Mapping Price Zones
Now that we have begun to extract and process publicly available promotion data we can also create maps of price zones. Understanding where your stores overlap with your competitors' price zones is a powerful tool.
We will be returning to this topic in future posts, needless to say if retailers are playing to win, rather than just wanting to stay in the game, using this data can help our AI shoppers suggest competitive pricing strategies that will win baskets by exploiting price zone weaknesses.
For instance a price zone with a single store can be very competitive but it comes with an operational burden and sometimes it is impossible to execute due to store proximity. Conversely, a price zone containing a high number of stores is easy to manage but is inflexible in the face of sustained pricing competition.
